Ash Creek Photo
The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures
Animals are not my forte, but I capture them when I stumble upon them; hence the odd collection of insects, birds, lizards, and a rabbit.
This is a favorite shot of mine. I stopped by a salmon hatchery on the Columbia River to see if any salmon were present, and as I walked into view of this pool I surprised these mergansers, which panicked and took off as quickly as they could. I reacted as quickly as I could. Fortunately, I had my 70-200mm zoom on the camera set to f/8 in aperture priority mode, and the camera set the shutter speed to one that provided a very nice blur.
