These Oregon Coast photos were made on Cascade Head, a basalt headland that extends into the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Salmon River Estuary. Cascade Head is a Nature Conservancy preserve located a few miles north of Lincoln City. The view from Cascade Head is one of the most dramatic vistas on the Oregon coast, and is well worth the relatively short hike.
The trail up Cascade Head offers some of the most spectacular views on the Oregon Coast. The trail from Knight Park on the Salmon River estuary is open year around. The first half mile follows a paved road through Cascade Head Ranch. When you leave the road and enter the woods, the next quarter mile follows a small creek steeply uphill. Be prepared for a bunch of steps.
