Ash Creek Photo
The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures
These Oregon Coast photos were made on Cascade Head, a basalt headland that extends into the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Salmon River Estuary. Cascade Head is a Nature Conservancy preserve located a few miles north of Lincoln City. The view from Cascade Head is one of the most dramatic vistas on the Oregon coast, and is well worth the relatively short hike.
Part of this level section passes through a grove of Sitka spruces that the loggers may have missed. Second growth trees are mixed with a few giants that may qualify as old growth forest.
