Ash Creek Photo
The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures
The Columbia River Gorge is famous for it's waterfalls. I look for falls that are seldom visited, or new ways of looking at the well known waterfalls.
During the longest days of summer, the evening sun illuminates upper Multnomah Falls. I took this photo with my Mamiya 645 early in the 21st century. The Historic Columbia River Highway dominates the foreground because I wanted to show the relation of the arched concrete highway bridge to the arched concrete footbridge spanning the top of the lower falls. This shot was taken on Kodak color negative film. A graduated neutral density filter was used to balance the dim foreground light and the brightly lit upper falls.
