Ash Creek Photo
The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures
These are a few of my favorite photos from a brief trip to Mount Rainier National Park in late summer, 2008. Although we traveled to Sunrise as well, these photos were all taken near Paradise Inn and the Nisqually River Canyon. When we first arrived at Paradise, the weather was crystal clear. Within a few hours, smoke from several large forest fires hundreds of mile south in Oregon began to drift in. When Mother Nature serves up lemons, it's time to make lemonade.
These wildflowers were photographed on the Nisqually Vista Loop trail at Paradise in Mount Rainier. If you are visiting Mt Rainier late in the season like we were, the Nisqually Vista Loop trail is a possible place to see wildflowers in their prime after the peak has passed in other places.
