Astoria, Oregon is the oldest city west of the Rockies. For almost to centuries its economy was based on natural resources including the fur trade, salmon fishing, and logging. The natural resources are now depleted, and Astoria's largest employer today is the US Coast Guard. It's a cool little town with lots of scenery nearby.
