The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures

Doug Gorsline > The schoolhouse at Bodie is sited between the town and the mine. If you walk up to the building and look through the windows, the furniture and the stuff of classrooms is still in place, covered with a layer of fine dust.
Doug Gorsline > This is an uncommon rear view of the famous rusty coupe at Bodie. It's usually shot from the front. I wanted to do something a little different, the light was better from this side, and I liked framing the mine site through the windshield.
Doug Gorsline > At the ghost town of Bodie, California, there is a rusty coupe sitting on the ground that has been photographed and published countless times. I decided to try to shoot it a little differently than the the frequently seen front quarter view. This closeup shows a long shadow thrown by the door handle.
Doug Gorsline > This is a preserved furnished bedroom in an abandoned home in Bodie State Historic Park in the Eastern Sierra. Bodie is open year around. Few homes built today have a bedroom this tiny. This room is protected from the public by wire fencing across the doorway. I squeezed my Canon EF-S 10-22mm through the mesh and zoomed out to 10mm.
