The Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, Columbia Gorge, and Canadian Rockies in Pictures

Doug Gorsline > I'd guess that many Californians recognize this view and have a fond spot in their hearts for it, like I do. It was taken on Highway One just north of San Simeon and shows the Santa Lucia Range. Lucky me, when I was there, the road had just been repaved and restriped by CalTrans.

This is the backdrop of the rugged Big Sur coast, and from here to Carmel the road is, shall we say, challenging. Road shots are a favorite of photographers, including me, but I only have a couple in my portfolio. I need to get after that.

Doug Gorsline > The Peter Iredale was a sailing ship that went aground on the Oregon Coast in 1906. The hull was built of steel, and the bow is still rusting slowly away today at Fort Stevens State Park.
